Florence After Five will feature The Embers on Friday evening

Downtown’s monthly street festival, Florence After Five, will be held Friday, Sept, 29, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in the 100 block of South Dargan Street.

This month’s event will showcase The Embers, featuring Craig Wollard. The Embers are considered one of the hottest bands in the southeast. They have been inducted into the South Carolina Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame, the South Carolina Beach Music Hall of Fame and they were named North Carolina’s Official Ambassadors of Music. They have recorded 17 albums and numerous singles and while they are best known for their beach music hits, The Embers play everything from beach to current Top 40 hits.

Ray Reich, Downtown Development Manager for the City of Florence stated “We are thrilled to have The Embers back in Florence, they are one of the most sought after bands in the country, playing over 200 dates per year ranging from Toronto, Canada to Florida, and westward to California and Hawaii. Florentines love them and every time we have an opportunity to book them they always draw great crowds.”

Through the years The Embers have played for presidents and princes and have even opened for the Rolling Stones. They have played for the Olympics, presidential inaugurations and in about every type of venue imaginable during their career. They have survived disco, punk, new wave, and hip-hop and continue to take the stage as one of the most entertaining bands to ever perform.

Admission to Florence After Five is free compliments of corporate sponsors Victors, Carolinas Hospital System, Crown Beverages, and Carolina Bank.

Food, soft drinks, beer and wine will be available for purchase.

Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs. but coolers are not permitted.
