Encore! KFA dancers compete in Greenville

The KFA Dance Company recently returned from its first competitive event of the season, the Encore Dance Competition for the Stars held Feb. 28 through March 1 in Greenville.
KFA competitors won many overalls and high scores, including the first place in both Overall Production and Highest Scoring Group with “It Was All a Dream.” The routine is based on the story of Sleeping Beauty and features all 114 company members.
The Florence Company Ballet was given the Genuine Joy Award and the Fierce Company Modern was honored to receive the Best Direction Award.
Individually, dancer Ember Boykin earned the title of Petite Miss Encore. Also, both Connie Mixon and Zachary Russell were awarded scholarships to attend future Encore DCS events.
KFA dancers wrapped up the competition by winning The Spirit of Encore, one of the top awards presented during the competition. The award is given to the studio that best represents the spirit of dance on and off the stage.
KFA-Florence will compete in two more regional events this season and will attend a national competition this summer.
