Doll show celebrates Barbie’s 60th anniversary
The Pee Dee Doll Club will present the 33rd Annual Doll & Toy Show & Sale Saturday, Aug. 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The show will be held at the Southeastern Institute of Manufacturing and Technology Conference Center, located behind Florence-Darlington Technical College.
Admission is $6 for adults. Children under 12 are free. Door prizes will be drawn every half-hour.
More than 25 dealers from all over the southeast will be participating and attendees will be able to browse through 40 to 50 tables of collectible dolls and fashion dolls, such as Madame Alexander, Barbie and Tonner.
Accessories such as doll furniture and doll clothes will be available. In addition, shoppers can find paper dolls, collectible toys and action figures.
This year’s show theme is “Celebrating Barbie’s 60th Anniversary”. Club members will have a display honoring Barbie’s birthday with beautiful dolls showcasing Barbie through the decades. We also will be honoring Bradley Justice Yarbrough’s cover story from the United Federation of Doll Collector’s magazine. The article is about Stacey and the world of Barbie. Cake will be served to all in attendance.
Attendees may bring collectible dolls for Antiques Roadshow-style appraisals by Bradley Justice Yarbrough from Durham, NC. A fee of $3 per doll will be charged.
Register for a chance to win dolls donated by Mattel, show dealers and other doll companies. All proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit our charity Camp Happy Days, which is a medically supervised camp for children undergoing chemotherapy.
