On Sunday, September 9, The Power Comic Convention came to Florence. The event was hosted the SiMT building on the Florence-Darlington Technical College campus.

At the convention there were costume contests, vendors selling home-made products, face-painting, balloon art, and various fantasy and comic book related items for sale.

Amber Poston also known as Mer Anya the Oceanic Drifter, www.facebook.com/meranyatheoceanicdrifter, has been attending this event since it started an estimated six years ago. She says that she has dressed as various other characters in the past and has attended comic conventions in other cities before. As a resident of Florence, she is glad that there is a comic convention closer to home.

Suzanna J. Linton is a resident of Timmonsville. She is a Medieval Fantasy author. Her book series is called the Lorst Series. She just released her latest book in July of this year. She said it was great to see all the costumes.

Monte R. John Julio, is a custom costume weapon designer. He is located in Greensboro, NC, and made his way down to Florence for the event. He creates steampunk, diesel punk, and retro weapon props for cosplayers.
