Call for entries in 5th Annual Lynda English Studio Miniature Competition
Registration is open for the 5th Annual Lynda English Studio Miniature Art Competition. Deadline for entries is November 8.
“Much is to be gained artistically by painting small – in composition, color, and value,” said Jackie Wukela, co-owner of Lynda English Studio Gallery. “The Lynda English Studio Gallery hopes to accomplish two tasks with this 5th Annual Miniature Competition: one, to nudge artists to tighten their skills by working within a small space; and two, to help educate our students and fellow artists in the process of entering competitions.”
The competition is open to youth 6 years old and older. The youth division is open to all artists aged 6-12 who reside in South Carolina. And the adult division is open to those 13 years old or older residing in South Carolina. Any 2- or 3-dimensional original art media not exceeding 40 square inches can be submitted. Photography is not part of the competition.
Entry fees for adults are $10 per entry and $15 for two entries. Fees for youth entries are $5 per entry and $7.50 for two.
This year entries will be judged by Florence Regional Arts Alliance executive director Sandra Cook.
Awards will be announced during the reception on Wednesday, November 28. The reception held at the gallery will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Adult first place will be awarded $200; second place, $125; and third place, $75.
Youth first place will be awarded $25; second place, $15; and third place, $10.
