Women’s Network celebrates 18th anniversary
The Pee Dee Women, Business & Professional Women’s Network celebrated their 18th anniversary at their March meeting. Four of the charter members and club organizers addressed the luncheon meeting held on March 24 at the Florence Country Club.
The original members talked about how the club got started. They are Joy Meiser Mendis, the first club president; Peggy Collins, Iris Hodge and Media Blankenship.
Mendis noted that the group had 60 women gather for the first meeting. Collins added that this was before email, cell phones and Facebook. “Our network is older than Facebook,” she quipped.
She attributed the success of the club to its members and officers. Hodge commented that the women’s network was a wonderful concept promoting friendship, support, encouragement and networking.
Current president Robin Lewis reminded members about the next After Hours Networking event at Victor’s on April 12 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Anyone interested is invited to come, she said, encouraging members to bring someone.
