SCA encourages fitness
The Senior Citizens Association challenges seniors to “Find Balance at Your Center!” This September, be a part of National Senior Center Month 2016 and “Find Balance at Your Center.” The Senior Citizens Association joins the Leatherman Senior Center to provide special activities to celebrate seniors, especially as September approaches. Seniors are challenged to attend exercise classes on Tuesdays at 9:45 a.m., Thin and Healthy classes on Wednesdays at 9:45 a.m. or one of their games throughout the week.
Games include Bridge, Mexican Train, Canasta and Pokeno. You can join the Leatherman Senior Center for an annual membership fee of $35. Make the decision to exercise your body and brain. SCA and the Leatherman Senior Center’s September events for Senior Center Month consist of the following: Friday, Sept. 9, from 8-9 a.m., the 9/11 walk and the Patriotic balloon release in memory of Sept. 11, 2001; Wednesday, Sept. 21, from 12:30 to 2 p.m., Francis Marion students will be at the Leatherman Center to do health screenings.
For the month of September, the RSVP (Retired Seniors & Volunteer Program) will conduct a first responders service project. The purpose is to show first responders that our seniors support them in every way. The Senior Citizens Association strives to promote independency among our seniors and wants you to know it cares.
