Play Me I’m Yours returning here
Street pianos are coming back to Florence on April 15 and will remain until May 1. They will be located throughout the city, and in Lake City, available for anyone to play and enjoy. The street pianos will be personalized and decorated by local artists. Last April, Florence presented 24 pianos decorated by local artists. Prizes were awarded for the best design and peoples’ choice.
In 2016 the event will also feature noon time concerts on many of the pianos and a large-scale inflatable sculpture “The Janis Project” by artist Frank Hyder. Hyder’s works have appeared at the Carnegie Museum, CA; La sale Museum, PA; National Museum of Catholic Art and History, NYC; Museo Jocobo Borges, Caracas; Art Museum of Coro and many others throughout the world.
Reaching over six million people worldwide, more than 1,300 pianos have already been installed in 45 cities across the globe, from New York to London, bearing the simple instruction ‘Play Me, I’m Yours’. Florence organizers are currently seeking locations, pianos and artists. Locations will be throughout the city, downtown, in parks, shopping centers and anywhere people gather.
