Library to offer pair of virtual health programs
The Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation Library is offering two new virtual programs. Both programs will be available for viewing on the Library’s website, www. florencelibrary.org, and Facebook page starting April 19.
One program will feature Dr. Jessica Fink, who returns for another program on foot health.
Fink is a podiatrist at Physicians Footcare in Florence and Hartsville. A podiatrist is a specialist in the diagnosis and care of foot disorders, including their medical and surgical treatment. The feet provide not only support for the entire body when standing, they are also essential for mobility.
Fink graduated from New York College of Podiatric Medicine.
A second program offers a profile of Dr. Charlie Dorn Smith III. Smith is interviewed by Library Information Services Manager Deborah Bartell.
Smith is a native of Tuberville. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Wofford College and his medical degree from the University of South Carolina in 1985. He completed his degree in Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery from the Medical College of Georgia. Smith is board certified with the American Board of Surgery in general and cardiovascular surgery and is a practicing surgeon at MUSC Health - Florence.
He serves as chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of South Carolina. He is also Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Belle W. Baruch Foundation, which works to preserve the ecosystem and beauty of some of South Carolina’s wetlands. He is married to Deborah Watford and they have three grown children.
Smith will be talking about how to have a healthy heart, some symptoms of heart problems, signs of a heart attack, as well as preventative steps such as diet and exercise.
