Library offers online book club
The Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation Library’s Book Club will take place online for the remainder of 2020.
While the library’s meeting rooms remain closed to the public, the monthly Book Club discussions will be taking place via the Zoom video conferencing app, according to Information Services Librarian/Adult Book Club Coordinator Debbie Quesada.
“The Library Book,” by Susan Orlean will be featured for this discussion. In her book, Orlean shares information about the mysterious 1986 Los Angeles Central Library fire that destroyed 400,000 volumes and cost millions of dollars to repair the structure and replace the damaged contents.
Participants can share their thoughts about this mysterious fire along with their early memories about going to the library.
The club’s Zoom meetings will continue on the following dates at 1 p.m.
• Thursday, Oct. 15 - Home Safe, by Elizabeth Berg;
• Thursday, Nov. 19 - An American Marriage, by Tayari Jones;
• Thursday, Dec.17 -The Day I Ate Whatever I Wanted: And Other Small Acts of Liberation, by Elizabeth Berg
