‘Leading Ladies’ bring frolic and laughter to Florence Little Theatre
The Florence Little Theatre will present the hilarious comedy, “Leading Ladies,” Jan. 15-23. The theatre is located at 417 S. Dargan Street. Written by Ken Ludwig, the play focuses on two English Shakespearean actors who find themselves so down on their luck that they are performing in the Amish country of Pennsylvania.
When they hear that an old lady in York, PA, is about to die, they resolve to pass themselves off as her two beloved relatives and get her fortune. The trouble is, when they get to York, they find out that the relatives aren’t nephews, but nieces. As they attempt to fool the household, romantic entanglements abound.
Ludwig is also the author of “Lend Me A Tenor” and ”Moon Over Buffalo,” both of which have previously been presented at the Florence Little Theatre. Leading Ladies is underwritten by Armstrong Wealth Management Group and FLT Friends. It is directed by Shannon Dunn. The cast features Lloyd Willcox and Larry Falck as the dazzling duo – Leo Clark and Jack Gable.
Also performing are Susan Oliver as Meg Snider, Larry Chewning as Duncan Wooley, Angela Lee as Florence Snider, Judge James Lockemy as Doc Myers, and John Eiler as Moose Frank. Making their FLT debut are Lanie Gleeson as Audrey and Avery Hutton as Butch Myers. Production crew includes Shauna Lair, assistant director and stage manager.
Backstage crew includes Margaret Saverance, Chase Miles, Bradford Averitt, Margo Averitt, Deb Hickman and Katie Kelly. Set design is by Shannon Dunn, Lisa Sims and Thomas Walker. Set construction and painting is by Lisa Sims, Thomas Walker and Avery Hutton. Vickie Greenan is set decorator and props mistress. Delsenia Murchison assists as props crew.
Joanna De Young is costume mistress. Costume assistants are Kitty Murrell and Barika Leftridge, and costume crew are Cara Jeffords, Mikayla Suggs and Katie Kelley. Choreographer/hair and makeup, is by Brittany Miles, assisted in choreography by Whitney Langley. Margaret Saverance was fight choreographer. Emily Bochette served as dramaturge. Will Bynum is light designer and light board operator.
Sound board operator is Erika Maliszewski. Leading Ladies runs Jan. 15-23 with performances Tuesday-Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students.
