Dr. Jeffrey J. Dorociak joins McLeod Regional staff

McLeod Health welcomes Jeffrey J. Dorociak, M.D., PhD to the medical staff of McLeod Regional Medical Center. Dr. Dorociak joins Dr. Timothy Spurling as part McLeod Physician Associates and in practice at Florence Gastroenterology Associates.

A board certified gastroenterologist, Dr. Dorociak comes to Florence having more than 20 years of experience providing care to patients with conditions affecting the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, liver, pancreas, and gallbladder.

Prior to joining McLeod, Dr. Dorociak served on the medical staffs of Roper-St. Francis and Bon Secours-St. Francis Medical Centers in Charleston.

In private practice, Dr. Dorociak provided care as part of Palmetto Digestive Disease, Palmetto Endoscopy Center, and Tides Gastroenterology.

No stranger to Florence, Dr. Dorociak attended Francis Marion College before pursuing a bachelor of science and master of arts in teaching exercise physiology at the University of South Carolina, followed by earning a PhD in exercise physiology measurements and evaluation from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA.

Dr. Dorociak received his doctor of medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston in 1988, where he also completed his internal medicine residency in 1991. In 1993, he completed a Fellowship in Gastroenterology from Bowman-Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University and North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C.

An avid long distance runner and saxophone player, Dr. Dorociak and his wife, Tammy, enjoy eight children and five grandchildren.

Florence Gastroenterology Associates is now located in the McLeod Center for Cancer Treatment and Research, 401 East Cheves Street, Suite 300. New patients are welcomed by appointment and referral.
