City Recreation presents program, Museum Muses
The City of Florence Recreation Department has created a new program, Museum Muses, to invite individuals and friends in a small group to visit museums, art galleries and sites to explore, discuss and learn. The first visit is set for Wednesday, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m. at the Florence County Museum located in downtown Florence at 111 W. Cheves St. Plan to meet in the lobby at 1:45.
Parking is available on Cheves St. (less than one block from the Museum.) The exhibit, In Times of War, utilizes the Florence County Museum’s existing collections, newly acquired and loaned arts and artifacts. The gathering allows time for viewing, reminisces, thoughts and feelings about a truly human phenomenon. Call Teresa Simons at the City of Florence Recreation Department, (843) 665-3253 for questions and information on this developing idea.
February Museum Muses program is Arriving South, an exhibit on contemporary Southern landscapes at the Florence County Museum. Other exhibits and exploration in Florence and a short distance are the E. N. Zeigler South Carolina Room, USC Library collection, Burroughs’s and Chapin Museum in Myrtle Beach, FMU Fine Arts, Black Creek Arts in Hartsville, historical church and event sites.
