Chambers sponsor Grassroots Breakfast
Event at SiMT gives leaders an overview of 2019 accomplishments.
The Southeastern Institute of Manufacturing and Technology Center played host to a Grassroots Breakfast sponsored by the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce on Monday, Sept. 9.
The Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce and the Hartsville Chamber of Commerce co-hosted the event, which offered community leaders a brief overview of the state legislative accomplishments in 2019. Those in attendance also had the opportunity to provide feedback on issues affecting local businesses and manufacturers.
South Carolina Chamber of Commerce President and Chief Executive Ted Pitts led the presentation.
Pitts said that each year the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce and regional chambers come together for the Grassroots meeting where they discuss issues and gather feedback. He said there were 23 meetings planned for this year.
The feedback, he said, would help shape the state chamber’s 2020 Competitiveness Agenda and set chamber priorities for the next legislative session.
Among the issues covered were tax reform, workforce, housing, and education.
The breakfast buffet was provided by Sonoco Products.
