Mark your calendar because you don’t want to miss Arts International on Saturday, April 9, from noon until 6 p.m. on the 100 and 200 blocks of South Dargan Street (FMU Performing Arts Center, grounds, and S. Dargan Street). Admission is free. This annual outdoor festival is hosted and sponsored by Francis Marion University and the City of Florence. Additional sponsors include Honda of South Carolina, NanYa, the Florence Convention & Visitor’s Bureau and Pepsi.

There will be three stages with performing artists featuring The Malpass Brothers, The Pachanga Latin Band, Bichini Bia Congo Congolese Dance and Drum, The Drake Irish Dance, The Cirque-Tacular, The Palmetto Bronze Handells, The Brazil Flavor Music and performers Xin Jie and Sumire Worman. In addition to the three stages, there is a host of varied activities also going on. Children’s activities, sponsored by the City of Florence Department Parks & Recreation, will take place on the front lawn of the PAC.

Expect to sample tasty dishes from the more than 15 food vendors, featuring domestic and international food, including Asian, Greek Spanish, Indian, Cuban, Italian and Caribbean. Beer gardens will offer international and domestic/craft beer. Cooking demonstrations will be presented by some of Florence’s top chefs. The Artisan’s Fair will feature regional artists demonstrating and selling their crafts. Coinciding with Arts International will be the annual Florence Darlington Technical College Welding Sculpture Competition.
