Art winners announced for Lynda English Annual Miniature Show
MINIATURE ART – First place adult winner Gay Morrison, on right, shows her miniature art ‘Pisgah Methodist Church,’ along with other winners. First place youth winner was Jessie Guo, on far left.

Big things come in little packages, especially around Miniature Show time. At least that’s what artists and friends discovered on Dec. 3 at the reception and awards ceremony for the Lynda English Annual Miniature Show and Competition. Contestants in the adult and youth categories could use any medium or combination of media, but the complete size had to be 5x7 or under.

Some were very small, as little as 2x3 inches. Media included watercolor, oil, colored pencil, and collage, as well as some 3-D work. Award winners were: Adult, first place – “Pisgah Methodist Church” by Gay Morrison of Hartsville. Second place, “Splash”, by Jennifer Edwards of Florence, Third, “Partly Cloudy” and “Pomegranate” by Allison Dunsmore of Hartsville.

Youth first place, “Egret by Jessie Guo, second, “Sounds of Night by Sophie Belk,” third, “Flutter Away,” by Jasmine Doctor. People’s Choice awards were won by Qingyi Tan for adults and Sophie Belk for youth. The miniatures will be on display and on sale until just before Christmas.
