Art Trail Gallery on hiatus
Water damage from the storm that swamped most of South Carolina also impacted the Art Trail Gallery’s current home, along with the studio of Alex Palkovich. If Mother Nature had not intervened, the gallery would have moved from its current location at 185 West Evans to the new, permanent location at 142 North Dargan in several months.
However, rather than engage in the repair of the existing building that will soon undergo major renovations for another project, the decision was made to put the gallery on hiatus until late summer/early fall of 2016 when the new location will be completed. The Holiday Show at the Art Trail Gallery continues until Saturday, Dec. 19.
The gallery will then close for the remainder of December with artists coming to remove works Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 29 and 30 between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. David Hobbs, executive director, indicated that while the physical space will not show activity during the coming months, the Art Trail Gallery will be busy preparing for the move to the new location and planning for the 2016-2017 roster of exhibits and activities. Artists are asked to stay tuned via e-mails, gallery’s website and Facebook to prepare to participate when the Calls for Artists are issued.
