Human trafficking prevention unit to come to Florence
One Child at a Time and Global Connections International will be in the parking lot at First Baptist Church, 300 S. Irby St., Florence, on Tuesday, September 11 and Wednesday, September 12 from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. One Child at a Time and GCI have partnered to bring education to children and communities about human trafficking through a mobile education experience. The mobile unit, a 44 foot tractor-trailer truck, provides video, music, lighting, text, and images to educate everyday people about what human trafficking looks like, how victims are targeted, as well as the tools traffickers use to ‘groom’ victims.
The belief is that communities need to be informed and to be able to recognize human trafficking activities in their own communities. Parents and teens need to understand how traffickers target young people through fraud and coercion, whom they target, and how to prevent young people from ever becoming victims.
Please spread the word, and invite your friends and neighbors. According to the One Child at a Time and Global Connections International, “It is easier to educate a child today, than rescue one tomorrow”.
