Central United Methodist completes renovations
The congregation of Central United Methodist Church returned to its sanctuary Sunday, following an 8-week renovation project. The Rev. Thomas Smith led church members in a rededication ceremony as part of its worship program.

The congregation of Central United Methodist Church had much to be thankful for this past Sunday.

After eight weeks of being dislocated from its sanctuary while it underwent renovations, the congregation returned to find, among other things, freshly painted walls and ceiling, a refinished floor, new carpet and repaired pews and balcony seating.

This is truly a day for celebration,” stated the Rev. Thomas W. Smith. “Today we resume worship in Central’s historic sanctuary, a place of spiritual respite since 1913. All who set foot in the sanctuary are struck by its beauty and the worshipful attitude it inspires. Now, with renovations and repairs complete, we can gather once again in our beautiful house of worship.”

In a letter to the congregation Rev. Smith said the Central family “owes a debt of gratitude to all those who have worked so hard to make this renovation possible and ensure that excellent worship continued in the process.”

He said he was “personally indebted to each of you, the Central church family, who have made sanctuary renovations possible and worshiped through the last few weeks in Christian love.”

He concluded the letter by stating, “Most of all, we should thing Almighty God for his provision during this time. The sanctuary project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget. We serve a mighty God who has big things in store for Central. Now let us go about the mission God has given us to follow Jesus by loving God and loving our neighbor.”
