Kudos to the Symphony and St.Luke’s on concert
Last Monday night’s (Oct. 16) opening concert of the Florence Symphony Orchestra was a most entertaining and moving performance for the approximately 500 patrons in attendance.
The outstanding first half of the concert included the popular Mozart’s Overture to “Don Giovanni” and his Symphony #35, “Haffner.” The second half was the orchestra’s stirring rendition of Mendelssohn’s Symphony # 5, “Reformation”, celebrating the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther’s triumph of Protestantism in 1517. The varying themes in the fourth movement of “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” was an uplifting experience for the listener.
The Florence community owes a debt of gratitude to the congregation of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church for their generosity in underwriting this performance.
Reserve your seats for the diversified remaining four concerts of the 2017-18 season.
