The sweet aroma of desserts baking have been drifting from the kitchen at the Transfiguration of Our Savior Greek Orthodox Church these past few weeks in preparation for the ladies annual fund raiser.
The 66th Annual Greek Ladies Pastry Sale and Dinner will be held on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 16 and 17, in the Hellenic Center, 2988 S. Cashua Drive. Hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.
The women of the church work tirelessly to bake their recipes for the public to enjoy. As they have for 66 years, they invite the public to come enjoy their authentic Greek meals and dessert and stock up for the upcoming holidays.
The Greek ladies give generously into the community for many philanthropic causes, their most recent being Help4Kids which received a $5,350 donation on Oct. 25. These funds were raised by the Ladies Philoptochos Society’s recent fashion show.
This year’s entrees offered include 1/2 baked chicken riganato, dolmades, mousaka and a vegetarian plate, served with rice pilaf, spanakopeta and Greek salad.
Also offered are Greek salads and grilled chicken Greek salads.
Pastries include dipples, baklava, kourambedes, finikia, koulourakia, pear cookie, cannolies, galaktoboureko, chocolate eclairs and sweet breads.
Plates and pastries are available eat-in or drive thru, Presale meal tickets are $10. Call the church office at 843-662-5471. Credit cards are accepted.
