Trinity-Byrnes athlete gets SCISA award

Trinity-Byrnes Collegiate School senior, Connor Francis, was presented with the Bill Simpson Award at the annual TBCS Athletics Banquet. The Bill Simpson Award is chosen annually and is the highest honor bestowed upon a student-athlete in the South Carolina Independent School Association. The award is presented to one outstanding graduating male and female student in the independent school system who best exemplifies the academic and athletic qualities that Mr. Simpson represented throughout his career as the SCISA Athletic Secretary.

Criteria for selection includes the following: Headmaster’s recommendations, SAT score, class rank, student service record, academic and athletic achievements, coaches’ recommendations and community service.

The award was presented to Connor by Mike Fanning of SCISA.

“Connor Francis, who will attend Tulane in the fall, is a tremendous student, athlete, and ambassador for Trinity-Byrnes Collegiate School. It is a great accomplishment, and we are overjoyed by the fact that a Trinity-Byrnes student has received this distinction for the second year in a row. Last year Cates Saleeby, a freshman at Vanderbilt, also received the honor,” commented Jared Amell, Athletics Director at Trinity-Byrnes.

Connor Francis is the daughter of Amy Sowell and Jamie Francis.
