This week’s summer reading welcomes Orisrisi

The Florence County Library System will welcome Orisrisi African Folklore and Drumming for Summer Reading 2017.

Orisrisi African Folklore and Drumming share the beauty of African life and culture through a unique folkloric performance filled with drumming, dance and storytelling. Performances will be presented by Adetute Harrell, a Nigerian-born folk artist, and Don Harrell, a music scholar and performing artist.

The shows will be at the following locations:

• Tuesday, July 11 11:30 a.m. – Johnsonville Public Library, 242 South Georgetown Hwy., 843-386-2052

3 p.m. ­– Dozier M. Munn Public Library, 100 Main Street. Pamplico, 843-493-5441

• Wednesday, July 12 11:30 a.m. – Lake City Public Library, 221 E. Main Street, 843-394-8071 3 p.m. –

Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation Library, 509 S. Dargan St. Florence, 843-292-7382

This year’s theme, “Build a Better World!,” seeks to discover the world of reading.
