Summer reading is here at county library system
Explore the world with the Florence County Library System during its summer reading program. This year’s theme, “Build a Better World!”, seeks to discover the world and other cultures through reading. The Summer Reading Program, open to young people from babies to young adults, features weekly programs, prize drawings, storytimes, a summer reading club, and more.
Summer Reading and other programs will be held at each library branch. Make plans to join us at one of these locations:
• Drs. Bruce and Lee Foundation Library, 509 S. Dargan St.
Special summer programming will be held on Wednesdays at 3 p.m. in the Joseph Stukes Meeting Room at the Florence County Library. Programs are scheduled for the following dates:

The Florence County Library also offers storytimes for various ages. Registration is required. Storytimes groups:
Toddler Storytime (age 2 only) Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m.
Preschool Storytime (ages 3-5) Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.
Bilingual Storytime (ages 2-5) Tuesdays at 6 p.m.
Baby Storytimes (ages 0-23 months)
Pre-Walkers: Thursdays at 10 a.m.
Walkers: Thursdays at 11 a.m.
Each week during summer, a theme is selected. Books, songs, crafts, and fingerplays are chosen according to the theme.
Sunday Family Movies will continue throughout the summer. Movies will be shown Sundays at 2:30 p.m. in the Privette Children’s Program Room. Movies are scheduled for June 11-July 16. All movies are free.
The library will be offering Fine Arts Friday for children in grades 5K-3rd , beginning June 16 –July 14 at 3:30 p.m. Children will be working with a variety of art forms. Registration is limited.
The library will be offering Monday Library Lab for children and teens in grades 4th-8th, beginning June 12–July 10 at 3:30 p.m. Children and teens will be doing a variety of science activities including robotics, circuits, Legos, building, solar energy and eclipse.
