Miracle League’s ‘Field of Dreams’ now a reality

It was a beautiful sunny day in more ways than one on Saturday morning for the opening of The Miracle League of Florence County’s “Field of Dreams.”

Opening ceremonies included guest speakers, introduction of board members and teams, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the National Anthem sung by Orange team member Anniya Mouzon.

Ronnie Pridgen, director of Florence County Parks and Recreation, said the ballpark was truly a miracle. Games for special needs individuals began as Buddy Ball only three years ago, he noted. Today, the league boasts 110 participants composing eight “color” teams, wearing red, blue, green, purple, orange, gray, garnet and powder blue t-shirts.

The new “Field of Dreams” is located in the county’s Greenwood Park facility, 2711 Pamplico Highway.

“I have never been more proud to support anything more than the Miracle League,” stated Kent Caudle, Florence County Council chairman.
