Pamplico students adopt school in Houston
PAMPLICO – As a community service project, Hannah-Pamplico Elementary/Middle School (HPEM) adopted Meyerland PVA Middle School in Houston, Texas.
Hurricane Harvey caused massive damage and flooding to many homes and schools in the Houston area. The students at the two schools decided to do something to assist. During the month of September, each grade level collected specific school supplies to be donated to Meyerland PVA Middle School.
The citizens of Pamplico and surrounding communities also rallied to collect school supplies, and local businesses made monetary donations to support the project. HPEM collected approximately 30 shipping cartons of school supplies for the students and staff of Meyerland.
A local shipper donated the shipping expenses to transport these items to Houston and on Tuesday morning, Oct.10, a send-off ceremony was held at the school.
